UrbanLab Gdynia is space. An open forum for dialogue and discussion about the city on the one hand, specific rooms – conference room, office, kitchen – on the other. The UrbanLab is a formula – a way of looking at the city. It’s a process of identifying challenges together, working on the best tools to deal with them. The quality of our work fully depends on people – inhabitants and residents of Gdynia and officials and clerks making decisions on their behalf. We do not create innovations ourselves. In order for our actions to change the social reality for the better, we need to fill the space with those who know most about the urban reality. The task facing the UrbanLab is to create and ensure optimal conditions for social dialogue and development of social capital. It concerns not only the core of competence calculated for civic education, development of skills of empathic looking from various social perspectives, raising awareness of the conditions of the city’s operation and development. It is also about a more prosaic foundation, i.e. a convenient and comfortable meeting place where you can sit down and drink good coffee. And get to know each other. On the city.
